Nick & Mariah: Not Just a Video Romance, It is For Real!

Nick Canon was featured as Mariah Carey’s lover in her upcoming music video for “Bye, Bye” but word got around that the relationship is more than just an onscreen love affair. News has it that the couple got married just recently.

Allegedly, the marriage license was acquired from the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.   Nick and Mariah’s wedding took place in Carey’s Bahamas estate last Wednesday presided by Bishop Clifford Petty of the National Church of God in the Caribbean. The clergyman confirmed that he did preside the wedding but did not give the exact details. When asked he just said, “I didn’t give a sermon”.

In the past weeks, words circulated that the two were dating and the couple was reportedly seen getting cozy with each other in Las Vegas. On Saturday, Carey was seen wearing a diamond ring during the premiere of “Tennessee” where she was casted as a waitress. They were allegedly seen holding hands at the movie’s post premiere celebration in Cadillac Lounge at Tenjune.

Famous jeweler, Jacob Arabo publicized his role in the said union and told People that Nick came to two weeks ago at Jacob & Co. to have an engagement ring crafted for Mariah. The 17-carat ring was made of platinum with a square, emerald-cut fancy purplish pink diamond worth $2.5 million.

There is no confirmation of the report though. Representatives for either of the two are unavailable. Neither Carey’s publicist nor Canon’s manager returned The Associated Press’ requests for comment. Meanwhile, a member of the Canon family validated saying Nick called to announce the engagement and marriage.

The Canon-Carey pair has received considerable attention. Some are wondering whether this is just a publicity feat. Taking into account the singer’s new album release and movie entitled “Tennessee”. Canon also has four movies to be released this year.

But then again, Mariah Carey’s reputation in the music industry hardly needs a wedding rumor to boost her fame. Being one of the most successful artists, her name is already listed in the popular list. In fact the song “Touch My Body” from her latest album is now No.1.
